LLOBELL ---------------------------- Public Relations Representative Dr. John Hickey I graduated New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1981, and finished a podiatric surgery residency at Oxford Hospital in Philadelphia in 1982. Since then I have been in private practice in Levittown. Prior to that, I taught mathematics for 11 years at Hofstra University and Queensborough Community College. I am on staff at New Island Hospital as well as at North Shore University Hospital at both Plainview and Syosset. My associate is Dr. Sathiya Eswarathasan. She is eminently qualified, having finished a four-year residency. She ha been with me for over a year, and has proven herself to be a caring physician who has the skill to determine what will work best for the patients. She’s a local success story, having grown up on Long Island, and graduated fpr, Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville. Mr. Joseph M. Herzog, CPA, MBA, is the lodges Treasurer and is on the Board of Directors. He has approximately 35 years of accounting and auditing and experience, including 8 years with large regional firms. His diversitied auditing background has been concentrated in manufacturing and special investigations o serving clients from a broad variety of fields-in particular, the apparel and importing industries, and health care organizations. In addition to his expertise with independent public accounting firms, Mr. Herzog was president of a management consulting firm during the 1098s, employing creative financing strategies and venture capital to raise funds for corporate entities. He is an active member of several civic associations and numerous professional organizations. Marino, DVM, DACVS,CCRP Chief of Staff, Long Island Veterinary Specialists 163 South Service RD., Plainview, NY 11803 DR. Dominic J. Marino graduated with honors from Auburn University in Alabama, where he received both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. He completed a one-year internship in a small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia and a three –year comprehensive residency in a small animal orthopedic, soft tissue and neurosurgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Marino was honored with both the Martin and Beatrice Weiser outstanding research award and the North Shore Animal League Petering Scholarship award during his residency. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and is the former head of Orthopedic/Neurosurgery service at the Animal Medical Center In New York City. Dr. Marino has published many scientific articles, and authored chapters in veterinary medical textbooks. He lectures extensively on many surgical topics including soft tissue, orthopedic and neurosurgery. Dr. Marino served as chairman of the Eastern Veterinary orthopedic Society for several years and is on the National Advisory Board of North Shore Animal League America. He is currently the chairman of the Department of Surgery, and the Chief of Staff at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview NY Dr. Marino serves as the surgical consultant to : The Humane Society of New York, NY; Nassau University Medical Center, Uniondale, NY North Shore Animal League America, Port Washington, NY; Bide-A-Wee Animal Adoption Center, Wantagh, NY;The Guide Dog Foundation, Smithtown, NY; Sweet Briar Nature Preserve, Smithtown, NY and is an active executive board member of the Police Surgeons Benevolent Association. Michael E. Bergman, JD is a senior partner of the law firm of Bergman, Bergman, Goldberg and Lamonsoff LLP. His firm maintains offices in Nassau, Queens and Suffolk Counties. Michael received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. Always having a passion for law enforcement, he majored in Criminology and and Criminal Justice. Thereafter, he returned to New York and enrolled in law school. He earned his Juris Doctorate at Touro Law School. Mr. Bergman is admitted to the New York State Bar as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of the United States Federal Court. He is an active member in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He serves as Chief Counsel and is on the Board of Directors of the Police Surgeons Benevolent Association, and also serves as a board member and counsel to the board of directors of the lodge 123 of the Fraternal Order of Police. In addition, Mr. Bergman also serves as an advisor to various Police Benevolent Associations. Since Sept. 11, 2001, realizing the need for interagency cooperation and civilian assistance in mass emergencies, he has attended, trained and has become certified in various courses pertaining to emergency responses to mass disasters. He has also been involved in the planning and executing of mass disaster drills. Those drills focused upon the training and coordination of police, fire, EMS, military and physicians working together in a mass disaster scenario. In addition, Michael has personally assisted in various fund raisers that have provided substantial financial assistance for police officers severely injured in the line of duty. Dr. Cary Pollack has been an active participant with our organization almost from its inception. Presently he is our Executive Vice President. Dr. Pollack practices cardiology in Manhattan and in the Bronx. He is a Assistant Clinical Professor at Mt. Sinai Medical School in NY as well as being the director of outpatient cardiovascular research at St. Lukes Medical Center. He feels that his best and most honorable of his accomplishments was and remains his position as Chief Medical Consultant/Brigade Surgeon for the 800 M.P Brigade, US army-now active reserve. He served with this unit in Iraq2003-2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Then again he was mobilized in 2006 for Operation Enduring Freedom. He holds the rank of Col. Since his promotion in 2001. We just hope that he will now remain home, away from the combat zone.
